Frequently Asked Questions
It is a process that takes about 1-1.5 hours depending on the area it is applied. It is the surgery that we most often combine with other surgeries. The duration of surgery may vary depending on the combination. Depending on the combination, it may require 1 or 2 nights of hospitalization. You should wear the corset that is dressed during the surgery for 6-8 weeks.
It is made with the help of an incision of approximately 1 cm according to the application area. It is considered a scarless or minimally scar surgery.
Liposuction is not a weight loss surgery. It is an operation that provides regional body shaping. Unfortunately, patients with a body mass index above 35 are not suitable candidates for this surgery. You can click here to calculate your body mass index.
In particular, fat removed via liposuction can be used to shape the butt. Depending on the patients needs this fat can also be used on other body parts as well.
Injecting fat to enlarge the breast volume is a method I do not prefer because it makes the diagnosis of cancer difficult in the post-operative years.
Sagging is not expected in suitable patients, but areas such as the inner leg and arm are the most prone to sagging. When applying liposuction to these areas, it is necessary to be cautious and avoid overdoing it. If the surgical arm or thigh lift is suitable for you, insisting on liposuction to avoid scars increases the possibility of sagging. Some fluctuation/waving of the skin is a complication that may occur in all liposuction surgeries. In order to reduce the chance of encountering this situation, it is important to use the corset as recommended and to do sports after the surgery. Smoking also increases the possibility of fluctuation and sagging.
We want to stand up and walk a few hours after the end of the surgery. If your profession is not performed with intense physical labor, you can return to work within 7 days. After 4 weeks, you can do cardio-heavy sports such as walking and cycling, and after 6 weeks you can start lifting weights.
I smoke cigarettes/hookah. Can I have surgery?
We recommend quitting smoking 4 weeks before surgery and not smoking for at least 4-8 weeks afterwards.
Fat cells do not have the ability to reproduce. Therefore, the fat cells removed by surgery will not regenerate. However, the remaining cells may increase in volume and cause regional thickening again. If you pay attention to your diet and exercise after the surgery, your chances of thickening in these areas will be greatly reduced.
There is no FDA approval for the use of J plasma devices for liposuction. That’s why I don’t prefer it. Vaser is a device that dissolves fat tissue with ultrasonic sound waves when Laser uses heat to do that. The general belief that these devices are less invasive does not reflect the truth. They are applied with surgical techniques very similar to conventional liposuction. Vaser device is indispensable if six pack-two pack shape is to be given. The use of such energy-based devices can prevent sagging by providing some tension in the skin, but they are NOT an alternative to lift surgeries in patients with severe excess skin.
